Dangerous Plants to Have

Similar to our last post, there are plants that you don’t want to plant next to your house. These plants are woody and oily and burn readily and hot, and are counterproductive even if you have decent defensible space. These plants range from the obvious, like junipers, to the more unassuming like Dwarf Broom.

Here is a brief list of plants to avoid close to your home: Sagebrush (including Absinth Wormwood, Silver Mound, Sagewort and Big Sagebrush), Feather Reed Grass, Incense Cedar, Rubber Rabbitbrush, Spruce, Pine and Arborvitae.
